The Big Bang Theory

In this house, we're all big fans of Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory. (I actually ran into Sheldon one day at the skate park, believe it or not. He was flying around on a pink skateboard...true story.) All seriousness now, it's been said before: We misuse people grossly in our society. We reward social skills, we punish intellectual abilities-to the point of where intellectual abilities are usually now considered "disabilities." The point of this entire show is to make us see just how much we place people in the entirely wrong positions today. Who's the one most "neurotypicals" tend to listen to and take seriously? Penny-the sex-crazed waitress. Who do people reprimand and talk down to? Sheldon-the physics professor with a PHD. This, of course, is a *perfect* portrayal of our modern society and *what* is wrong with it. To consider the fact that not too long ago, people like Sheldon-who sounds exactly like what I imagine people such as Thomas Jefferson and Padraic Pearse must have sounded like-ran the world. That period in history was known by two names: "The Enlightenment" and "The Golden Era." Strangely enough as well-at the exact same time, women like Penny were institutionalized! How things have made a complete turnaround in such a relatively short period of time!
It also has been said as well: "Why have we never had any real military heroes since World War II?"
 Simple: WE DON'T RECRUIT THE RIGHT PEOPLE ANYMORE!!!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE! We're KEEPING OUT all the George Washingtons, Stonewall Jacksons, and Joan of Arcs.* Who knows how many potential Georges, Stonewalls, and Joans the military could be turning away today!
It's almost as if, overall, our society *wants* to dumb down the population. 


*The most famous military woman of all time spent most of her time sitting alone in her yard staring off into space and talking to herself, and then went to her country's leader telling him she heard voices...
