Medical scales dishonorably discharged and holiday parties

December drill with the Ohio Military Reserve yesterday started out with the medical scale being accused of lying at morning formation and demoted into the trash can. ("It probably just needs new batteries" one of my Security Section partners said.)
After last month's call with the shady individual coming onto base, security was amped up. Someone had wanted to place a guard at the doors in front of the armory-no one is supposed to go in or out of them-and that is exactly what we did. I spent a good part of the day in front of the doors leading in and out of the armory, making sure no one went in or out. We were given gifts by our Master Sargent-mine was my own web gear and belt, which I SERIOUSLY needed, so I was thankful for that.
The highlight of the day, however, was the annual OHMR holiday dinner! It included the color guard, toasts (I did not toast to the current President of the United States) and a POW/MIA table being placed-if you don't know what a POW/MIA table is, look it up, it's very interesting. Dinner was delicious-pulled pork and chicken with delicious macaroni and cheese and salad-and we had wonderful fudge, cookies, and pudding for dessert. The biblical tale of David and Goliath was told, with interesting emphasis on how David (inexperienced small child) was able to defeat and kill Goliath (nine foot tall hardened warrior)-the point of the talk being how light infantry (David) is often an advantage over heavy infantry (Goliath).
Speaking of dessert, apparently forty pumpkin pies were donated by Bob Evans-all frozen solid! No one was able to eat them! So a few ended up taking home a pumpkin pie to thaw out and eat at home. There were giveaways of many free stuff, and I ended up taking home a white ceramic OHMR ornament. Overall it was a great time and the food was delicious-even if we couldn't eat the pumpkin pies! Merry Christmas and Blessed Yule to all!
