Autistic Person of the Day: Daniel Boone

I've just finished Laura Frantz's great new book entitled "A Moonbow Night" and highly recommend it, especially if you like strong female characters!
After reading this book, however, and noticing who was albeit a minor character in it, but still mentioned, I knew what I had to do.
So welcome to today's Autistic Person of the Day!
  By all accounts, Daniel Boone would invariably stand off by himself at community socials, never mingling, dress in nothing but buckskins, and would take his gun and literally disappear for days on end into the woods. He was known to be quite solemn and not one for showing emotions.
Every single person I have known that was related to him has had an Asperger's syndrome diagnosis. But what Daniel lacked in social skills, he made up for in just about every other area! Today, nearly three hundred years later, it's the weird guy in buckskins standing off in a corner we're still talking about, and how he led countless settlers through what was at that time, uncharted, dangerous, territory. How he was respected. How he was looked up to. The tragic murder of his son James at the age of sixteen struck a chord for many. Daniel took what he loved-the outdoors and the frontier-and made a great, respectable life for himself and his family. The Wilderness Road, opened by the autistic guy in buckskins, as it appears today! Thinking about going this summer now!
